Guidelines, Terms and ConditionsConsignors receive 50% of the selling price of the items brought in for consignment less a fee of 7 cents per consigned item. Any quantity of merchandise is accepted. 2. CLOTHING: Only Spring/Summer clothing and shoes will be accepted at the Spring/Summer sale and only Fall/Winter clothing and shoes will be accepted at the Fall/Winter sale. Sizes accepted: Girls (newborn to size 16) and Boys (newborn to size 20). Junior sizes will be accepted, but please, NO adult clothing. Shoes, sneakers, boots and all other footwear are also accepted. All shoes must be clean, have laces, no holes, etc. Please put your consignor number (in pen) on the sole (bottom) of any footwear you bring in the event that the tag comes off and is lost. Shoes still require a tag. Please secure shoes together with a large safety pin or zip tie! 3. MATERNITY: All seasons of maternity wear are accepted. Items must be MATERNITY! Nursing bras, swimwear, nightgowns and nursing tops are also accepted. NO breast pumps will be accepted because of the possibility of infection. 4. OTHER ITEMS: Bassinets, cribs, toddler furniture, (cribs, beds etc. will need to be put together at receiving) rocking chairs, high chairs, strollers, slings, gates, monitors, bed rails, crib/toddler linens, diaper pails, bathtubs, booster chairs, infant swings, playpens, toys, books, videos, games, outdoor toys and car seats. ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH KIDS AND MOMS TO BE! CAR SEATS must not be more than 5 years old. They must have the date of manufacture stickers visible on the car seat. You must know the "history" of the car seat to ensure that it has not been in an accident. Car seats must be impeccably clean. Please include any instructions, locking clips, anchors, etc. that you may have with your car seat. Please ensure everything has been cleaned! PLEASE WASH any REMOVABLE PADDING! Due to space limitations duplicate large items will be put on sales floor as space allows! 5. TOYS: All toys, games, crib lights, etc. that require batteries must be brought in at receiving with batteries in them so we may see that they work properly and that the customer wishing to purchase your item can also verify that it works. Batteries will not be returned to you. All toys that have loose pieces, i.e., puzzles, toys with balls etc. need to be secured properly. USE CLEAR PACKING TAPE! Puzzles should be in plastic bags or wrapped with saran wrap and then taped. 6. ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED: We will no longer accept used socks and used underwear! (NEW socks and new underwear in the package are fine.) We also will no longer accept stuffed animals unless they do something (talk, move, play music, etc.)! 7. HANGING: All clothing must be correctly hung on hangers. (Any types of hangers are fine!)

8. TAGGING: All items must be pre-tagged when they are brought in on receiving days. All tags must bear your consignor number, item description, size and price (*example of tags, labels and proper UPC barcode position below*). Items you prefer not to be discounted on our sale days should be marked with a BIG red dot on the marking tag and/or label. These items will stay on the sales floor but customers will pay full price. Please make sure you red dot items before we open to the public. You will not be able to put red dots on items after we have opened to the public. Please mark a "D" (Donate) on the tag if you want the item donated at the end of the sale should it not sell. Leave it blank if you will pick it up. For games, puzzles, books, videos etc. please use "Removable Labels". Ordinary labels will not come off easily and could damage your merchandise. You can order your tags, labels and UPC barcodes on line and I will mail them out to you at no cost! * TAG and LABEL EXAMPLE *
9. PRICING: Please keep in mind that our pricing guidelines are guidelines only. YOU are still in control when it comes to pricing your items. And because you are not only a consignor, but in most cases a shopper, you must ask yourself, "Would I pay this price for this item in this condition?" The more common and easily purchased the item is the less the percentage of retail it will sell for. High dollar items such as strollers, large outdoor equipment, cribs, etc. will sell well at 50% or more of their current retail because the savings on a $60 item at half price is much more substantial than it is on a $6 item. The condition and to some extent, new cost, should gauge how you price your items. Generally, toys and large baby items hold their value better than clothing. Clothing is usually priced at 1/3 to 1/4 of retail based on condition. Click Here for more detailed pricing guidelines. Think about the following as well when you are pricing:
10. INSPECTION: We inspect all merchandise when you bring it in for the sale. After inspection, you have the opportunity to take any rejected item(s) home for repair and/or cleaning and resubmit the item(s) or donate it/them to local area charities. The barcodes and prices of all items will be scanned into the computer inventory system at receiving and each consignor will receive a computer generated inventory list of their items. The inventory list provided will have the UPC barcode, category (clothing, toys, equipment, etc.) and the price set by the consignor for each consigned item. No items will be accepted without barcodes. Please allow extra time at receiving! 11. REJECTION: We reserve the right to reject any item. We are very selective! Items must be in EXCELLENT condition – NO TEARS, FADED ITEMS, KNEES WORN, OUTDATED, STAINED, SNAPS/BUTTONS MISSING, ZIPPERS BROKEN ETC! If we find a problem with an item that was overlooked at receiving, that item will be placed in the back room and will not be put out on the sales floor. On pick-up day you may sort through the rejected items and take yours home. If your items have been in storage containers, please wash them first. Yellow stains that occur during storage are the #1 reason items are rejected! If you wouldn’t buy it, don’t ask us to sell it. 12. RESTOCKING MORNING: This is your last chance to bring in those LARGER items (i.e. cribs, bassinets, pack n plays, strollers, car seats, high chairs, swings, bouncy seats, exersaucers, etc.) that you just didn’t quite have enough time to get ready for receiving. No clothing, shoes or toys will be accepted on restocking morning! 13. VOLUNTEERS: If you volunteer 8 hours or more you can shop from 6 pm -9 pm on volunteer shopping night. If you volunteer 4 hours or more you can shop from 7 pm -9 pm on volunteer shopping night. To reward those who volunteer more than the minimum, volunteers within each category will be admitted to the store based on the total number of hours that they have helped. Volunteer hours must be completed before the presale night unless prior approval is obtained. 14. LOST ITEMS: KIDS HAVEN is NOT responsible for items lost, stolen, damaged, mis-tagged, abandoned or destroyed due to fire or act of God. NO reimbursements will be made to the consignor. Except for items marked for donation, ALL items that are not picked up on the scheduled pick-up days will become the property of KIDS HAVEN and be sold at clearance day prices with NO profit going to the consignor. 15. RECALLS: When buying and selling pre-owned items you should always check to make sure that the item did not have a recall. A good place to check is: www.cpsc.gov/index.html (U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission). 16. CONSIGNOR CHECKS: Consignors no longer need to provide a self addressed stamped envelope. Kids Haven will purchase the envelopes and provide the postage. Since your Final Accounting Reports will now be posted to your on-line Kids Haven account, printed copies will not be provided unless you specifically request one. If you request a printed copy, it will cost 10 cents per page. The consignor checks will be sent by first class mail within a week of the end of the sale.
