Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008
To all Kids Haven's patrons:
I've added this page because there had been a lot of misinformation floating
around the internet about the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008
(CPSIA) and how it might impact Kids Haven
Consignments. On January 8, 2009 the Consumer Products Safety
Commission (CPSC) published a press release which clarified requirements of
the new children’s product safety law that took effect in February. For
your information, the CPSC's entire press release is available at:
The press release made it clear that sellers of used children’s products,
such as thrift stores and consignment stores, are not required to certify that
those products meet the new lead limits, phthalates standard or new toy
standards. And although the CPSIA required Kids Haven to
modify some of our policies and procedures, the overall impact of CPSIA
on Kids Haven should be relatively minor. Long before the
CPSIA was passed, Kids Haven was concerned about child safety. We have
always strived to sell only the safest, best quality, gently used children's
clothing, shoes, equipment, furniture, outside play equipment, nursery items,
maternity clothing and toys! Now that the CPSIA has been enacted into
law, Kids Haven will continue our efforts to provide you with the safest,
highest quality, gently used children's products you've come to expect from
consignors at Kids Haven!
